How to divert your kid from watching TV

Do you know? Kids get the habit of watching TV from parents or family members. Kids learn most of the things from parent and family members, so is watching TV. If parents are busy some how, some times they ask kids to watch TV, which in turn makes the kids to addict to watching TV.


Bad effects of watching TV too much in Kids

  • They become lazy
  • Eyes get tired and sleeplessness which impacts the following day
  • They will become poor in studies
  • Sitting for a long time with out moving makes them couch potato
  • They will be lack of expressive nature because of not interacting with people, which makes them backward physically, mentally and socially
  • Its not that easy to get them back once they are addicted, so they will not be interested to play out side
  • If you switch off the TV forcefully, they will become angry, they will scream and cry. They will think you as an enemy
  • lack of time management


You cant change them over night. It needs sizeable time and your effort and patience. You need continuously reduce the time and divert them on to other activities.

How to divert kids from watching TV

  • Introduce a new habit, like reading story books, drawing, music or etc.. introduce them to the out side world
  • Go out on a vacation over weekends
  • If both Parents are working, let the kids play with your friends kids or relatives
  • If the kids are too young send them to play school, else send them to some extra curricular sessions.
  • Set a limit on TV watching time. If they accept for that give them a small gift.
  • When kids are in home, make sure no body is watching TV. Please switch off the TV when kids are studying.
  • Play with them, spend time with them. Involve them in tasks that you do based on possibility like watering plants, cleaning cycle, feeding pets, cleaning the room. Ask for their help
  • Don't watch TV while eating. Talk to them ask how their day went at school
